film festival five x five

the fiveXfive new york state of mind dv project

5 filmmakers. 5 days. 5 production vouchers. 5-minute running time. world premiere on day 5.

The FiveXFive New York State of Mind DV Project is an exclusive VISIONFEST initiative that provides five specially selected filmmakers with the unique opportunity of developing and producing their own five-minute digital shorts, within a set of specific and challenging production guidelines.  The completed works and are then screened at VISIONFEST

Every year, five filmmakers are selected by a dedicated festival committee and a branch of executive officers from the Domani Vision Film Society to take part in the FiveXFive Project.  In order to be eligible for selection, filmmakers must meet certain prerequisite qualifications and must be ready and willing to work within the thematic and/or technical rules that are set forth by the festival's organizers.

The primary, and probably most challenging guideline, is that each filmmaker is allowed only five days to go from production-to-completion and that, excluding end titles, the finished work must not exceed a running time of five minutes.  Each filmmaker will be given five 'production vouchers,' which may be redeemed for the goods and/or services that VISIONFEST provides: digital camera package, sound gear, small lighting and grip kit, editorial/post facility, and meals for talent and crew during the five days of production and post.

Domani Vision Film Society shall act as the executive production entity and shall assist the filmmakers in seeking additional exhibition forums for their works, beyond the initial 'world premiere' at VISIONFEST.  However, the filmmakers shall retain all ownership rights, including story/screenplay and casting preferences.
